HOW TO GET IN THE FLOW

If you want to achieve optimal performance your concentration must be directed toward a singular purpose. Meditation is a tool which hones your attention to cut through distractions and immerse yourself in the task at hand. Just as a blacksmith forges a blade to perfection, so too can you forge your focus through meditation, ensuring that it remains sharp in the face of challenges.

One technique to achieve optimal performance states is the pre-performance meditation. This sanctuary of stillness is where you retreat before a performance or a task that requires your best. In this sanctuary, you practice mindfulness and visualization, mentally rehearsing the upcoming challenge with precision and positivity. This practice not only calms pre-performance jitters but also primes your mind for optimal execution.

Meditation also serves as a conduit for accessing the state of flow. Flow is a harmonious immersion in the present moment where time seems to stand still, and your work is effortless. Just think of an occasion when you lost track of time and performed well. Were you writing? Playing a round of golf? Delivering a presentation? You’ve been there. Through meditation, you navigate the flow with intention and grace.

Through mindfulness you develop a heightened sensory perception and perceive the world with clarity and depth. With this awareness you capture the intricate details and subtleties that often go unnoticed. This heightened perception unveils a vibrant world that expands your understanding.

Techniques for accessing heightened states of awareness also involve the exploration of altered states of consciousness. This may take a little stretching on your part. I’m not talking about using mind altering substances. The boundaries of your ordinary perception blur, and new dimensions of awareness come into view. Too woo woo for you? Think of yourself as a scientist or an explorer. Through techniques like meditation, breathwork, or sensory deprivation, you become the discoverer of your own mind, exploring altered states that offer glimpses into your endless consciousness.
